Here is an overview of the powerful utilities that are included in the Seo Administrator package:

The "Ranking Monitor" utility. This seo tool uses your website keywords to obtain the ranking position of your website from a wide range of search engines. The list of over thirty major international search engines includes: Google, Yahoo, MSN, AltaVista, AllTheweb, Lycos, HotBot and so on.

The "Link popularity checker" seo tool. The number of inbound links to your website is a major factor in successful search engine promotion and this tool analyzes these links. The Seo Administrator package enables you to create a comprehensive list of links to your web project and follow their dynamics by revealing new and out-dated links. The module can also analyze your competitor's websites and search for potential link exchange resources.

The Link exchange tool. Our link exchange tool identifies sites where you can publish links back to your site to increase your link popularity. It searches for sites with link exchange submission forms, sites with link exchange pages that have standard names (such as links.html, partners.html and so on), sites that link to your competitors and also creates a general list of resources matching your site topic. It can check reciprocal/partner links for you and provides software to manage your buy/sell/exchange links database.

The
"Site indexation tool" utility. This seo tool checks for website page indexing. Before being included in keyword-based search results, a web page needs to be indexed by the search engines. Seo Administrator reveals the pages of your site that have been indexed by various search engines. The program supports all major international search engines

The
"Log analyzer" program is designed for analysis of your website log-files. It provides comprehensive estimates of resource usage, numbers of visitors, search queries that were used to find your site, site referrers, visitors' countries and much more.

The
"Page Rank analyzer" seo tool automatically obtains the Google PageRank value for your list of URLs. The number of inbound links is also obtained. It also checks for the presence of each URL in the DMOZ and Yahoo catalogues.

The
"Keyword suggestion tool". Choosing the right keywords and keyphrases to target in your pages is extremely important to help people find your website. This seo tool uses a variety of sources to suggest keywords relevant to each page. The program also provides the competition number of the keywords. Less competition means that you may get higher ranking in search engines.

The
"HTML analyzer" module is a seo program that analyzes html page content. The program provides a full report on the weight and density of keywords and keyphrases in your web pages. As well as providing a preliminary analysis of your own site, it can be used to analyze your competitors' sites.

The
"Google Data Centers" program. This seo program is a tool that allows you to query all of Google's Data Centers from one convenient interface

The
"Snippets viewer" seo program. The brief, automated descriptions (snippets) of your resource displayed by search engines are also very important. An attractive description will make visitors to choose your link among all the others suggested by a search engine. This seo program analyses your snippets and compiles a database of them.

Seo Administrator automates site promotion allowing you to utilize your time spent on the project more effectively, efficiently and productively.

Project operation

The utilities from the Seo Administrator program suite are designed to integrate with each other via projects that may be launched and saved.

Most utilities in the Seo Administrator program suite work with search engines and so we introduce the term "search session". Each search session is included in a database called the "search database". You may view any previously saved search session data by selecting the appropriate date in the search database. We recommend that you periodically delete any outdated or unwanted search session data from the database. This will ensure rapid project launch.

Reports export

All the reports created by the program may be exported to a variety of file formats. These include HTML, Excel (.xls), Word (doc), CSV, Txt, XML. They may also be printed.

Check for updates

Seo Administrator can check for program version updates. This can be done from the menu. (File->Check for updates...) Alternatively, you can set program options to check for updates automatically during program launch. (Settings-> Check for updates automatically)

Proxy settings

In some cases, (For example, if you are connected to the Internet via a network.) it is necessary to enter proxy server settings. You can do this from the menu. (Settings->Proxy settings)

Use proxy – if this option is selected the program will connect to the Internet via a proxy-server. In the edit fields, Proxy-server and Port the address of the proxy-server and the number of the port should be entered.

If a password is needed to connect to the proxy-server, you should choose the option Authentication is needed and enter your username and password into the fields UserName and Password.

IP protection

Some search engines protect themselves from automatic queries by blocking the IP address of the computer making the queries. This will not be an issue for most Seo Administrator users who will have a dynamic IP or who use Seo Administrator with reasonable frequency. If you have a static IP address and use Seo Administrator very frequently (dozens of times a day), you may have to enable protection for your IP.

Use random proxies – if this option is selected, the program will automatically download the list of proxy servers to work with. Thus, each time it sends a request to search engines, a new IP address will be used. This method ensures the protection of your IP address against being blocked, but it has a number of drawbacks:

- it is impossible to use random proxy servers if you are already using a proxy server in your work;
- results received from search engines may vary for various IP addresses. Positions coincide for most search queries or they vary only a bit (3-5 positions), but in some cases the difference can be more considerable.
- the performance rate is much lower if this option is selected because not all proxy servers provide high-speed Internet connections

That is why it is recommended to use this option only when you work with large amounts of data.

Use random intervals between queries (milliseconds)
If this option is selected, Seo Administrator will make a random pause between any two accesses to a search engine. The pause will be no less than Min. Interval milliseconds and no more than Max. Interval milliseconds.

Settings->Do not refresh info tables during search

By default, information tables are refreshed automatically during the search process. This is useful with small and medium sized projects because it allows you to view search results as they are processed. On large projects, with more than 50 keywords and many search engines selected, automatic table refreshing may demand excessive CPU usage. In this case, automatic table refreshing should be disabled.

Launch from the Command line

You may wish to launch projects from the Command line to, for example, automate part of your work. This can be achieved using the following syntax:

[Full path to the utility] – [Full path to the project file]

For example, to launch the "Ranking Monitor" module from the command line of the project called "default.seo" you would use the following syntax:

C:\Program Files\seoadministrator\RankingMonitor\rankingmonitor.exe -C:\Program Files\seoadministrator\RankingMonitor\default.seo

Launch from the Command line is supported by the following modules:

- Ranking Monitor
- Google data centers
- Snippets viewer
- Link popularity checker
- Site indexing tool
- PageRank analyzer

When launched from the Command line the program is minimized into the system tray. It then processes the given project; it performs a search and obtains results according to the given parameters. It then adds the new data to the search database and finishes. The next time you launch the program you will have access to the data that was automatically collected in the command line session.

Sometimes you need to run projects automatically. This is what the scheduler is for.

Select module - here you select the module for which you want to create a project that should be run according to schedule.

The Add, Remove, Move Up, Move Down buttons allow you to add projects to the task list and remove them from it or arrange the list the way you need it, respectively.

When you click the Add button, you should first select the file of the project that you want to check automatically. After that you specify the rules according to which the project will be checked. You can check it daily, weekly, monthly or you can specify the date and time for a single check.

Sometimes you do not need to check projects regularly according to schedule, but you need to check a group of projects at once at a certain moment. The On-demand project option is used for that. The scheduler will not start such projects automatically according to schedule, but you will be able to start them at a certain moment by clicking the Run on-demand projects button.

Statistics - you can see the statistics of the checked projects here

Run on startup - if you enable this option, the scheduler will be run automatically when the operating system is started. It is recommended to enable this option because in this case you will not have to start the scheduler manually each time you restart the operating system.

Send reports via email - allows you to receive reports made by the program using e-mail.

User name - the username for connecting to the mail server.

SMTP server - the address of the SMTP server for sending mail

Your e-mail address - the e-mail address reports will be sent from

Send to e-mail addresses - the list of report recipients

Log in first. Due to fighting with spam, many mail servers do not allow mail to be sent if the mailbox has not been checked for new messages first. If your mail server uses this type of protection, you should log into your mail account before you can send a mail message. To do it, you should specify:

POP 3 server - the address of the pop3 server that is used to receive mail

Password - your e-mail password

Search engines – the list of search engines for checking the positions of your defined website URLs is specified in this list. Google, Yahoo, MSN are popular international search engines which also have national versions of their sites (i.e. Google.de, Yahoo.co.uk, etc.). Search results in the national sites may be different from those in the international sites. In the list of search engines, you may indicate the national versions of the search engines that are of particular interest to you. A number of national search engines from Germany, Italy, France, etc. are supported.

There is also a separate item labeled "Google custom" in the list of search engines. This search engine allows you to use Google for searching with custom parameters. You can specify the address of the Google search site - Domain (.com for the international version or any other for national sites), search language - query Language parameter (&hl=) and also the geographic location of sites to search for - Pages in/from parameter(&meta=). There are special options along with the default search available on many national Google versions, for example, "Search pages written in German" or "Search pages from the UK". The geography parameter allows you to specify these settings.

URL list –the list of sites for checking is specified here. Each name has an associated check-box. This can be used to temporarily exclude the site from a search without deleting it from the list.

Keywords list – the list of keywords and phrases for checking is specified here. Each word has an associated check-box. This can be used to temporarily exclude the keyword from a search without deleting it from the list.

Search depth (positions) – specifies the depth of the search, expressed as number of search positions. For example, Google shows 10 results of the search on each page; if you specify your Search depth as 150 Seo Administrator will check 150/10 = 15 pages in the search engine report.

Scan until first entry found If you choose this setting, the search will be carried out only until the specified site is found. The search depth setting will be ignored if the site is found. For example, if your site is found in the very first page of the search only that one page will be downloaded. The remaining pages will not be downloaded even if the search depth setting would allow it. Note: choosing this option speeds up a search, but reduces the scope for subsequent data analysis.

Number of search threads – specifies the number of search engines to be simultaneously interrogated. Note: the number of search threads should be specified according to the speed of your internet connection. If you have a high-speed connection, you can specify more threads. With a low-speed internet connection, you should reduce the number of search threads.

The buttons Add, Delete, Move up, Move down - allow editing of the Keyword and URL list.

Fill from *.txt – allows the lists of words and sites to be populated from an external text file. This function may be useful when checking a large number of words and URLs.

Start search causes the program to begin collecting information. After the required information is gathered, the statistics page will be displayed.

Ranking reports

Ranking report 1, Ranking report 2 – Information from the chosen site can be displayed in two ways. This switches between the two display modes.

Ranking report 1 – gives brief information. The results of all the chosen search engines are shown together in one table. This report can display the same data in two different ways: "One site – all the keywords" or "One keyword – all the sites". Choose a keyword or a site in the Keyword list or URL list to select the type of display you require in this report. This report allows you to compare the current position of your site with the position from previous search sessions.

Ranking report 2 – gives statistics that are more detailed. The ranking position and webpage of the found site is shown. The previous position of the site and its change is also included in the report.

Keyword list, URL list – allows you to choose a keyword phrase or website for viewing in the Ranking Reports. Selecting either a keyword or URL determines how the data is displayed in Ranking Report 1. This list also allows you to choose the site for viewing in Ranking Report 2.

Search database – each search session is automatically saved in the database to enable further analysis (to create reports on the position history, plotting, etc.). Choose the search date from the list to view ranking positions of the chosen sites on a specified date.

Delete – this key is adjacent to the dates list of the Search Database. Because saving of search sessions occurs automatically, unnecessary data may sometimes be saved in the database. The Delete key allows you to remove this data.

Progress – shows the percentage progress of the current task. System messages from the program, such as a progress log, are also displayed here.

Show top entries only – Different pages of the same site may be found several times in the search engine results. For example, www.site.com/index.html may be at position 5 and www.site.com/products.html at position 15. By default, both positions will be included in the report. You may turn on this option if you need to see top entries only, in the example this would be www.site.com/index.html.

Do not show positions changing – this option is only effective for Ranking Report 1. If you only need to see the current position of the site and are not concerned about previous positions then you should choose this option.

Interlaced background color – lines in the table have alternating colors to enhance the clarity of the displayed data.
The keys Start and Stop start and end the information collection process.

URL list

This is where Seo Administrator displays the responses from interrogated search engines as a URL list of specified depth. Pages from the sites that are checked for position are printed in bold type.

Search engines – this option allows you to choose the search engine from which you require the report.

Search database – allows you to specify the date for which you need to see the URL list.

Keywords list – allows you to specify a phrase for which you need to see the URL list.

Open start search page – opens the first page of search results based on the specified phrase and the specified search engine.

History table

For website optimization, it is important to be able to view a history of site positions in various search engines. That is the purpose of the History Table report.

Keywords list – the words selected in this list will be included in the report.

URL list – allows you to choose the sites for inclusion in the report.

Search database - allows you to specify the dates for the items you want to include in the report.

Search engines – this option allows you to specify which search engine results you want to include in the report.

Sorting order – allows you to specify the date order of items displayed in the report. You may choose either "Ascending Dates" or "Descending Dates".

Manual refresh, Refresh the report - by default, the position history report is updated automatically each time the settings are changed (for example, when a new phrase is added to the report). Sometimes it takes long to generate the report. In this case, it is more convenient to specify all the necessary settings and then generate the report only once.

Interlaced background color – lines in the table have alternating colors to enhance the clarity of the displayed data.

History chart

The history table of your site's search positions can be displayed as a History chart.

Keywords list – the words selected in this list will be included in the History chart.

URL list – allows you to choose the sites for inclusion in the History chart.

Search database - allows you to specify the dates for the items you want to include in the History chart.

Search engines – this option allows you to specify which search engine results you want to include in the History chart.

Sorting order – allows you to specify the date order of items displayed in the report. You may choose either "Ascending Dates" or "Descending Dates".

Scale (positions) – the positions that the site occupies may be dispersed over a wide range. By specifying the scale, you can specify a maximum position depth. If the position of the site is deeper than this maximum, it will be displayed in the History chart as "Not found". If you choose a large scale, the variations in position will look less significant. For example, a difference change of 10 positions will look like a big jump in a history chart with scale 30 but only a slight variation if the scale is set to 500. Your best choice of scale will depend on the range of variation of your site position.

Show tick marks – each point in the chart can be labeled with the site position. In some cases, a large number of such marks will make the chart appear rather crowded. You may turn off this option and then a position scale will be shown at the left of the chart instead of the labels.

Save as bitmap – allows you to save the image as .bmp graphics file for use by external programs.

Manual refresh, Refresh the report - by default, the position history graph is updated automatically each time the settings are changed (for example, when a new phrase is added to the report). Sometimes it takes long to build the graph. In this case, it is more convenient to specify all the necessary settings and then build the graph only once.

For convenience, the obsolete names of the DataCenters that were used by Google in the past are used when displaying them in the table. This list allows you to view the association between DataCenter names and their IP addresses.

The Start and Stop keys allow you to start and stop the information collection procedure.

The number of quality inbound links to your site is one of the most important criteria used by search engines to rank your pages. An efficiently conducted link exchange campaign is one of the most effective website optimization strategies you can follow. Many of the features of Seo Administrator program suite will help you track and analyze existing inbound links and also find new web resources to link to your site.

Search engines – the list of search engines to be used for checking inbound links is specified here. We recommend that you select all the available search engines. Even though the majority of inbound links will be found by all of the search engines, there will also be some links unique to particular search engines. A complete list of inbound links on your site will be guaranteed by using them all.

URL list – the list of sites for which inbound links are collected is specified here.

Search depth – specifies the search depth in positions (i.e. the maximum position the search engine should check to.). When searching for inbound links, you should specify a large search depth (usually more than 500) to make sure you collect all the links found by each search engine.

Number of search threads – specifies the maximum number of search engines interrogated simultaneously.

Check Google PageRank – if this option is turned on the PageRank of each found link will be displayed.

Check Yandex (RU) CY – to check CY of every link. CY is the Russian Yandex search engine version of PageRank. CY is only valid for sites that use the Russian language.

Search for anchor text – If this option is turned on, each found link will be accompanied by the text related to your site. Note: identification of this anchor text may take some time because all the pages linking to your site have to be downloaded.

Include links to all pages within the selected domains (Yahoo only) – the Yahoo search engine allows additional searches for (if the root of the site is specified, its domain) all the pages belonging to this domain as well as inbound links to the specified URL. You should turn this option on as it provides a more complete list of inbound links.

The buttons Add, Delete, Move up, Move down - allow editing of the URL list.

Fill from *.txt – allows you to populate the list of sites from a text file.

Inbound links report

The Inbound links report contains some additional information: The PageRank of the referring page and the Anchor text.
The PageRank is the degree of importance of a page as calculated by the Google search engine. The PageRank depends on the number of inbound links on the page as well as the PageRank of the referring pages. For example, an inbound link from the site www.microsoft.com has much more PageRank weight than that from a home page www.myhomepage.com. In other words, PageRank is the degree of links popularity of a specific page. It is a very important figure, which you should take into account when analyzing inbound links. The most valuable links are from referrers that have high PageRank value.

Anchor Text is the visible hyperlinked text located on the page that refers to your site. That is the text which goes between the tags "a href=…"Anchor text "/a". This text is very important for the search engines and the inclusion of appropriate keywords in the anchor text can make a big difference to the final ranking of your site pages. All major search engines give significant weight to the anchor text of inbound links.

The link data in the table may be sorted by PageRank of the referring pages or alphabetically.

Search engines – a review of inbound links returned by search engines is specified here. The list of search engines has an additional item: "UNIFIED LINKS LIST". The sets of inbound links returned by different search engines will have significant overlap. Nevertheless, every search engine will return some unique links. If you choose the option "UNIFIED LINKS LIST", a unified list of unique inbound links without duplicates will be displayed. That will represent the most comprehensive list of inbound links for your site.

URL list – allows you to choose the URLs for viewing in the inbound links report.

Search database – allows you to view inbound links for the specified date. If the link information for the specified date is not useful then you may delete it.

Exclude internal links – the search engine does not distinguish between inbound links from external resources and internal links from other pages on the same website. For example, the page www.site.com/products.html will obviously contain a link from the home page of the site www.site.com . Search engines regard this link as an inbound link although it is not really "inbound". This option allows you to exclude such internal links from the report.

Show main pages only – only main pages with links to your resource will be shown

New/Disappeared links

By itself, a list of links is not especially interesting, we are often more interested in changes. A site may have a great number of permanent links and it is not necessary to repeatedly analyze them. In many cases, it is more important to trace the dynamics of links, i.e. to learn which new inbound links have appeared and which old ones have disappeared.

This report allows you to view such information together with a PageRank for each link.

URL list – select the pages of interest for a dynamic analysis of new and disappeared inbound links.

Dates range – the initial and final dates for analysis are specified here. For example, you could specify the time between the initial and final dates as one month (the final date is usually the current one). Changes in inbound links for the past month will then be displayed if this information is available in the search database.

Competition rates

By analyzing the inbound links of your competitors, you may find new Internet sites that will provide inbound links to your own project.

Include domains
competing sites are selected here.

Exclusion mode - The report will include only those sites that have links to all the selected domains. For example, if you select 3 competing domains, the resulting list will contain only those sites that have external links to all three selected sites.

Inclusion mode - The report will contain all sites that have links at least to one of the selected domains.

Exclude domains – those sites that have links to the selected domains will be excluded from the report if they are in this list. You would normally specify your own website here.

The resulting list of sites will have links to your competitors (i.e. on all the sites in the first list), but not to your own site. This list may be very useful when searching for new resources in the net that will provide links to your project.

The PageRank of all of the referring sites is also displayed.

Search engines – the list of search engines to be checked for indexing is specified here.

Domain list – the list of sites for which you want to check indexing is specified here.

Search depth – specifies the depth of search expressed as search engine ranking positions. You should set the search depth slightly larger than the total number of pages within your site.

Number of search threads – specifies the maximum number of search engines to be interrogated simultaneously.

Check Google PageRank – if this option is switched on, PageRank will be shown for each page that is indexed. This option may be very useful when analyzing sites with a large number of pages.

Check date of indexation -
the date when each page was indexed by the search engine is checked. This option does not work for all search engines, but only for those which provide this information.

Site indexation report

The site indexation report contains all the pages that have been indexed together with their PageRank. This data may be sorted by PageRank or alphabetically.

Search engines – use this option to view pages that have undergone indexation by specified search engines.

Domain list – allows you to choose the sites viewed in the indexing report.

Search database – allows you to view indexing of a site on a specified past date. If data at the specified date is not useful then it can be deleted.

New/Disappeared pages

The databases (indexes) of search engines are constantly updated. Some site pages may disappear from the index of this or that search engine and reappear there.

This report makes it possible to view lists of pages that disappeared from the index (appeared in the index) of one or another search engine.

Search engines - allows you to specify the search engine to view information from.

URL list - here you can select the site you need to view dynamic indexing statistics for.

Date range - the initial and final dates for analysis are specified here. For example, the period between the initial and final dates is one month (as a rule, the final date is the current moment). Thus, you will see changes in site indexing for the last month.

Project settings

Search engines –the search engines of interest are specified here. It is very common for 99% of search visits to a website to originate from just one or two search engines. In this case, it makes sense to turn off the other search engines in your project settings. This will improve the clarity of the log-file analysis reports.

Files to analyze – the list of log-files that you wish to analyze is specified here.

Add, Delete – these keys allow you to add or delete items from the log-files list.
Log-files are text files containing administrative information about server requests. Server requests occur each time a visitor interacts with a website. Analysis of the log-file can tell you what parts of the site get the most traffic, how long visitors stay on a page, what patterns are present in visitors' interaction with the site and so on. As a rule they are kept at the server not as pure text files but as zipped (compressed) files (*.zip, *.gz, etc.) to keep them relatively compact. The "Log analyzer" module is capable of working with both text and compressed log files. Compressed log-files will be automatically uncompressed by Log analyzer before analysis.

Analyze – this option starts the log-files analysis procedure.

General statistics

The general statistics report contains information on number of visitors, unique IP addresses, page views and the number of visits from search engines. All the data is divided into sections by date and the "Total" column shows a summary for the selected period.

Date – the date of the log-file for which the analysis was made.

Unique IP addresses. Every computer connected to Internet is allocated a unique IP address that allows it to interact with other computers on the net. After any server request, (for example, page view, image view, file download, etc.) the IP address record of the originating computer is recorded in the log-file together with other information.

Each visitor generating site requests will obviously leave many records with the same IP address in the log-file. Some IP addresses can also be recorded even though a person did not visit your site. This may happen when viewing external sites that contain items, such as images, loaded from your site. Since the items are being downloaded from your site to the visitor of the "other" site the IP record will appear in your log-file.

Visitors. The total number of unique IP addresses will give an estimate of the average numbers of visits to a website. As noted above, the presence of a unique IP address does not necessarily indicate a real visitor who has viewed your website. Log analyzer will provide visitor statistics for those real visitors who have generated requests to download your site html-pages. The number of real visitors is indicated in this column.

PageViews. Each real visitor surfing your website site may view a considerable number of pages. This column indicates the number of downloads of all pages. This figure is not directly related to site visits but is an indication of how many pages average visitors to the site have viewed before quitting.

Searchers. Visitors to your site will come from different sources. One of the most important sources of visitors is search engines and such visits merit special analysis. This column indicates the number of visits originating from the search engines.
Chart This is located under the table and shows the data from the "Visitors" column in graphical form.

Page access statistics

Statistics on each page of the site are shown here.

Visits – this option shows the number of accesses of the page. All types of access, such as visits from search engines or from other sites are included here.

Searchers – this option shows the number of site visits originating from the specified search engines.

Bandwidth – shows the total amount of traffic in megabytes that this page/file generated.

Search engines list – shows the number of site visits originating from each search engine.

Keywords statistics

The keywords that visitors used to find your site in the search engines are shown here.

The total number of visits originating from all search engines as well as the number of visits originating from specific search engines is indicated for each keyword.

Referrers

The referrer is the site address that the visitor came from before entering your site. This report contains information about the referrers, i.e. the sites that direct visitors to you.

Do not include referers from the specified domain - filters referers from the selected domain

Referring domains – shows the names of sites (without indicating specific pages) from which your own site was visited. Some of these sites may have links to your site on several pages and this could complicate the analysis. This is especially true for search engines because pages containing the search results are created dynamically. This causes each visit from a search engine to look like a visit from a new and unique web page. This report includes only the names of referring domains to avoid such a display of a confusing web page names.

Referring URLs – shows the full address of each referrer.

Countries

The geographic distribution of your visitors can be a very important factor in promoting your website.

Each computer that connects to the Internet is allocated a unique IP address. There is a specific correspondence between IP address and country. If you know the IP address, it is possible to determine the country that originated the request.
Information about numbers of visitors from various countries is also given in this report in the form of a chart and a table.

Paths, Entry pages, Exit pages

When entering your website a visitor will arrive at a web page. This may be your website homepage or one of the secondary pages. After arriving, a person will typically view a few pages and then exit the site. The entry point, the path through your website and the exit point are all useful items of information that can be extracted from log-files.

Paths – the most popular paths are displayed in this report. For example, if a person entered page www.site.com/products.html , then went to the homepage www.site.com, followed by www.site.com/services.html and then exited your site, the entire path would be shown as: www.site.com/products.html-->www.site.com-->www.site.com/services.html

Entry pages – the pages from which a visitor begins to view the site are shown here. In this example, www.site.com/products.html is an entry page.

Exit pages – the pages from which a visitor exits from the site are shown here. In this example, www.site.com/services.html is an exit page.

Search engines robots

Before your site gets into the search results it should be indexed and added to the search engine database. The search robots - agents of search engines navigating the new pages not yet available in the search engine index, and updating information about the pages already known to the search engine are engaged in this operation. The given report provides the information concerning the search robots' visits to your site.

Spider (Robot) – the name of the search engine, the visits of which are presented in the table.

Page (Page) - a page or a file name to which the robot has addressed.

Host, IP - the computer name and the IP-address. Frequently the situation could occur that one of the fields is missing in the logs. In this case both the fields will be filled with the information defined, i.e. in some cases the values of these fields could coincide.

Date - request date.

Status - the status code, the server reply code (200 - OK, 404 - the page not found, etc.)

Log record – the direct log file string containing the whole information on the request of the robot.

This module allows you to make a detailed analysis of competition rate (the competitive ability of links) based on a list of internet resources (URLs). This may be convenient for indicating competition rate according to some keyword or for analysis of the inbound links list and so on.

Project settings

Add URL list –
allows you to specify a URL list for analysis. There are two ways to add the URL list:

Add phrases
– the keywords that are to be estimated for competition rate are added and the search engines are queried. The search engine results based on these keyword phrases are then analyzed and a URL list is created from them.

Fill from *.txt
– in this case the URL list should be a text file. Seo Administrator supports two types of text files:

Plain text files with one URL on each line.

Text files created by modules of Seo Administrator. (Text reports.)

Check Google PageRank – to check Google PageRank for specified links list.

The PageRank is a measure of page importance as calculated by the Google search engine. The PageRank depends on the number of inbound links on the page as well as the PageRank of the referring pages. For example, an inbound link from the site www.microsoft.com has much more PageRank weight than that from a home page www.myhomepage.com . In other words, PageRank is the degree of links popularity of a specific page. It is a very important figure, which you should take into account when analyzing a links list. The most valuable links are those that have high PageRank values.

Check Alexa Traffic Rank - to check Alexa Traffic Rank for specified links list.

Alexa Rank is a traffic rank of your website among all websites of the world. Ratings are based on a level from 1 to 4,000,000 and it goes beyond 4 mil sometimes. The LOWER your rating on Alexa the better. Meaning if you have a ranking under 100,000 then your website should be producing some good traffic. 3,000,000 to 4,000,000 ratings are for new sites mostly, or sites with no traffic basically. While a rating of 1 will be the website with the most traffic.

Check Yandex (RU) CY – to check CY of every link. CY is the Russian Yandex search engine version of PageRank. CY is only valid for sites that use the Russian language.

Number of inbound links
– Obviously, the number of inbound links does not reflect the quality of the links. However, it provides a rough estimate of the average links popularity of the given page. PageRank Analyzer allows you to denote the number of inbound links according to the Google, Yahoo, MSN Search and Yandex search engines.

Web directories presence – allows you to check for the presence of each link in the major web directories. Here is a summary of these major directories.

DMOZ – the Open Directory Project – is a vast catalogue of sites divided into categories. To be included in DMOZ catalogue the site has to be approved by a DMOZ human editor. These directory editors are volunteers from all over the world. Listing in the DMOZ directory is free, but the site check may take a long time.

The Google catalogue is, in fact, a copy of DMOZ that is used by the Google search engine.

Yahoo directory is a catalogue of sites managed by Yahoo editors. A listing in this directory is chargeable.

The Yandex catalogue is a catalogue of sites managed by Yandex editors. Yandex is a Russian language search engine.

The above-mentioned catalogues are not visited much by web users; therefore listing in these catalogues will not directly supply many extra visitors. However, additional inbound links from them will provide a significant increase of links popularity as assessed by the search engines. This, in turn, will have a favorable effect on the site's position in search engine listings. More importantly, many other web portals, including Google, use copies of the DMOZ catalogue and so a DMOZ entry results in an increase in inbound links and link popularity of your site.

Page is indexed by Google (yes/no) - check whether the page has been indexed by the Google search engine

Page is indexed by Yandex (yes/no) - check whether the page has been indexed by the Yandex search engine

Number of pages indexed by Google on the site - the total number of pages indexed by the Google search engine on the site

Number of pages indexed by Yandex on the site - the total number of pages indexed by the Yandex search engine on the site

Number of outbound links - the number of outbound links to other sites on this page

Total number of links - the total number of links on this page, including links to other pages of this site

Check IP address of the site - check the IP address corresponding to this site

Search for TITLE text – in some cases, especially when analyzing a large number of pages, it may be more convenient to view their TITLE text (i.e. text from TITLE tag). For optimized pages, the TITLE tag is usually a brief description of a page containing major keywords. This information may be used for analysis.

PageRank report

URL lists
– this option allows you to select and view the URL list.

Search database
– allows you to view the results of previous search sessions. If the data for a given date is not needed, you can use the delete key to remove it.

Ranks by URL report
– displays detailed information on each URL.

Average ranks report
– displays average ranks for a specified URL list. These figures may be used for rough estimation of competition rates based on the specified list. For example, the average PageRanks and the number of inbound links for a given keyword may show you if it is possible for your project to compete successfully using this keyword.

This module is divided into two independent parts. Keyword suggestion allows you to choose various variants of search phrases containing the specified word and view the number of requests by these phrases. A competition check is supposed to use an already generated list of keywords. Some parameters allowing you to evaluate how complicated the promotion is are shown for each word. The popularity of each request is also evaluated.

Keyword suggestion

Project settings

Keywords list
– the phrases to be checked for additional suggestions are added to this list.

Keywords suggestion services
– this allows you to query the keyword suggestion services of the search engines. Seo Administrator supports the following suggestion services:

Overture
- the most famous keywords suggestion service.

Wordtracker
– a similar chargeable service. There is a free version that allows up to 15 keyword suggestions.

Yandex Direct, Rambler
– Russian services for keywords suggestion.

Maximum number of keywords
– the search will continue as long as the specified number of keywords is found or until all of the search engine suggestions are finished. A recommended value is 50-100 keywords.

Related searches -specifies that additional thematic search results should be returned.
The Yahoo and AskJeeves search engines allow you to view additional lists of keyphrases that are thematically related to the specified word. These keywords may also be of significant interest.

Meta-tag keywords (from competitors' sites)
– when choosing keywords you should also pay attention to the words used by your competitors. This report helps you with this task and operates as follows:

· search engine results to the specified depth are downloaded.

· Pages from these results are downloaded.

· Meta-tag keywords from these pages are analyzed and compiled into a list.

· A count is done of each of the meta-tag keyword occurrences in each page. This is done for all of the pages resulting from the search engine results.

Number of sites to check
– specifies the number of sites for meta-tag analysis.

Keywords report

Keywords list –
the list of keywords for which you wish to obtain viewing suggestions is specified here.

Sorting order.
All the phrases may be sorted:

· Alphabetically.

· By number of expected searches, according to the given suggestion service.

· By the number of times this phrase has appeared in the checked sites.

The set of options Services, Related searches, Site keywords allows you to view the results of the search collected in a similar way (as described in the previous section).

Select all and Unselect all
. You will see a checkbox next to each word. Check those keywords from the list which are the most interesting and which are to be checked for competition rate.

Competition rate

Competition rates - are important factors when choosing keywords for optimization. You should pay attention to the competition rate of given phrases.

Average PageRank
– the first 10 sites are downloaded in the report of the Google search engine. Then the average PageRank of the first ten sites is calculated. This provides an estimate of the competition rate of the given keyword.

Total number of pages matching keyword
- the number of pages containing the specified keyword.

Number of exact matches
– the number of pages containing an exact match of a phrase as would be found with quotes around your search text.

Average number of inbound links
– the first ten sites are downloaded based on Google results and then the average number of inbound links for the first ten sites is calculated.

Overture popularity
- the popularity of the search phrase according to Overture is checked

Yandex popularity - the popularity of the search phrase according to Yandex.Direct is checked

Project settings

Online project – the site address for analysis is specified here. Pages of the site will be downloaded from this address and then analyzed. You should specify the domain and the analyzer will then automatically find other pages on the site by following the links.

Offline project (local) – a list of local .html files for analysis can be specified here.

Number of search threads – specifies the number of pages to be downloaded simultaneously.

Analyze – start analyzing the pages according to the above procedure.

Stop analyze – stop analyzing the pages.

Settings-> Analyze saved pages (for offline projects only) – when a remote (Internet located) project is analyzed, the downloaded pages are saved and will be analyzed when the project is launched. However, if local pages are analyzed two variations are possible when launching the project:

· Repeated analysis of pages included in the project. In this case, all changes to the pages since the last analysis will be taken into account and the updated results will be displayed. This is the default behavior of the analyzer.

· Show the results of the previous analysis. When the project is launched, the data from the previous analysis will be displayed. Any changes to the local pages will be ignored until a new analysis is performed.

Charset - the sites being analyzed can be in various languages and use various encodings. You may need to specify the encoding of a particular site for it to be displayed correctly. You can also allow the program to determine encoding automatically (Autodetect).

Advanced settings: below there is a number of tabs with advanced settings.

Files - downloaded and analyzed files are displayed here

Analysis rules – it often happens that a keyword has several forms, there are words with the same root, synonyms, etc. in the text. In this case it may be useful to regard a group of words as one word while analyzing pages.

General analysis rules - enables the specified rules for the analysis of pages
Word length - defines the length of words to apply this rule to
Cut on the left - defines the number of characters that are not taken into account (skipped) at the beginning of the word
Cut on the right - defines the number of characters that are not taken into account (skipped) at the end of the word

Example: suppose we specify the following rule: "word length - 8, skip on the left - 0, skip on the right - 2". Let us take the word "analysis" for example. According to the specified rule, the forms of this word (analysis, analyses) will be regarded as one word during the analysis, which makes the latter more convenient.

Note: as a rule, this option should be used to analyze non-English sites (i.e. in those languages where words may take various inflections, prefixes, etc.).

The Add, Remove, Clear list buttons allow you to manage the list of rules.

Word groups - enables the mode of grouping words. Suppose we have a group of keywords that have the same root (e.g. run, running, runner, etc.). It can be useful to regard these words as one word while analyzing pages. In this case you can create a group named "run group" and specify the list of words included into this group. During the analysis, the program will regard all words of this group as one keyword and all parameters (weight, density, etc.) will be displayed for this group.

The Create group, Add word, Edit, Delete group, Remove word, Sort, Check duplicates, Undo current changes, Collapse, Expand, Save, Load buttons allow you to manage the list of groups.

Include/Exclude paths - sometimes it may be convenient to analyze only a part of your site. For example, the site can have a forum with a lot of pages that should be skipped during the analysis. Or, otherwise, you need to analyze only one part of the site and skip the rest of pages. To solve these tasks, you should let the analyzer know what paths should be checked on the site.

"Include paths" mode - the program will analyze only the pages that are stored at the specified location. For example, to analyze the section www.site.com/reports/ on the site, you should specify this path. The rest of pages on the site will be ignored.

"Exclude paths" mode - the program will analyze all pages on the site except the specified ones. For example, to avoid analyzing the forum of the site, you should specify the path www.site.com/forum.php?. In this case all pages except those of the forum will be analyzed.

The Add, Delete, Load, Save buttons allow you to manage the list of specified paths.

Stop words - any text contains a lot of common words (prepositions, interjections, articles, etc.) search engines do not take into account while analyzing pages. It is convenient to skip such words during the analysis. This section allows you to edit the lists of stop words that the program will skip during the analysis.

The Add, Delete, Load, Save, Load defaults buttons allow you to manage the list of stop words.

Keywords by pages

In the left hand list, all the analyzed pages are enumerated. The table displays a list of all the words contained in this page as well as their parameters.

Count – the number of times the word appeared in the page. As well as text, the count includes: TITLE tag, meta-tag Keywords, Description and Alt tags for images.

Weight. Words contained in the page are analyzed by the search engines using a specific algorithm. Here are some of factors taken into account by the search engines:

· The total number of keywords.

· The text attribute tags. For example, title, bold type and so on.

· The distance from the beginning of the text.

Various other parameters are also used. Using similar methods, HTML analyzer attributes a definite figure - the weight - to each word, and this allows you to estimate their significance.

Density shows the percentage ratio of the number of specified keyword occurrences to the total number of words in a page. The density of keywords is an important parameter that is to be taken into account when optimizing your site. A low density will cause the search engine to consider the page irrelevant for a query on that keyword. An extremely high keyword density will cause the search engine to switch on a search spam-filter and as a result, the page will be excluded from search results.

Text. This column shows the total number of occurrences of a specified keyword in the reading text. This is the text that is visible to your site visitors. Keywords in TITLE tags, meta-tags and Alt tags are not included in this count. The program does count keywords located between certain text design tags (bold type, italics etc.) or if a keyword is part of an anchor text.

Title – shows the number of times a specified keyword appears in the TITLE tag, the title of the text.

Bold – shows the number of times a keyword is in bold type.

Italic – shows the number of times a keyword is in italics.

Header – shows if a keyword appears in the headers. Such keywords are marked with the tags "hx" "/hx".

Anchor text. The page may include links to other resources. Usually, a link has some descriptive text (the text between the tags "a href=…" and "/a") which is called Anchor or Anchor text. This column reflects the number of keywords found in anchor text.

Alt (Alt tags for images). Any image in a page may have some alternative text that is shown when the picture cannot be downloaded. This column shows if a keyword was included in the pictures Alt tags.

MetaK (meta-tag Keywords). The primary purpose of a Keywords meta-tag is to show a list of keywords relevant to page content. This list of words was intended to be used by search engines to denote page content. Currently, meta-tag information is ignored by most of the search engines, but we recommend that they are still used on your pages.

MetaD (meta-tag Description). When a search engine builds a report on some search query it displays a brief description as well as a link to each web resource. Generally, the description is based on the text contained at the page. The purpose of the Description meta-tag is to allow the search engine to use a description given by the author of a page instead. This meta-tag is not used by all search engines but its presence on web pages is recommended.

Pages by keywords

This report is similar to the "Keywords by pages" report. The difference is that you choose a keyword in the left hand list and the program will then list all of the pages containing the keyword.

Phrases by pages

The left hand list enumerates all of the analyzed pages. The table shows the list of phrases contained in a page together with their parameters.

From the point of view of a search engine, a phrase is a group of words contained in a page. Any combination of words, even meaningless ones, is a phrase to a search engine. However, when searching by phrases, preference is given to those pages containing specific keywords in a sequence that is likely to make sense. HTML analyzer checks all the word combinations in the page and attributes a weight to them. This allows you to estimate the importance of each phrase to the search engines.

The weight of a phrase depends on various parameters and three components contribute toward the phrase weight. Firstly, it is based on the weight of the individual words that make up the phrase as explained above. The numbers of words, their appearance, presence in TITLE tags, meta-tags, etc. are all taken into account.

There may be several occurrences of the exact phrase in the page text. The second component of the phrase weight is based on the number of times the exact phrase appears in the text.

The third weight component is an estimate of the concentration of key phrase words in the text. If the words comprising a key phrase are widely scattered through the text then this component will be low. If the words are concentrated together, such as in the same paragraph, the weight will be higher.

The total weight displayed in the table is based on the three components described above.

Count – the number of times a phrase appears in the page, based on exact matching.

Weight – is the weight of a phrase as described above.

Show words – this option allows you to view detailed information on each word of the phrase.

Pages by phrases

This report is similar to the previous one. The difference is that you select the key phrase in the left hand list and the table will show you a list of all the pages containing this phrase.

Site keywords statistics

All the words in every page of the site are displayed in this report. The total number of occurrences and the total weight of each word is shown.

Site information

This report displays general information on all of the analyzed pages. The total number of words in each page (including the text, service tags, TITLE tag, meta-tags, etc.) and the number of readable words (visible text words) is displayed for each page. The size of a page, in Kilobytes, is also displayed.
